Stop calling me Bill....

I’m glad these elections are over. It means Bill Clinton will finally stop calling me. I liked Bill when he was in office, but I feel that he’s become selfish. He only calls me when he needs something. It’s always, “Have you voted?” He never calls me just to see how I’m doing. He never wants to go get a beer. The over the last two weeks I’ve had 37 messages from Bill on my answering machine telling me to support various politicians.

Seriously Bill, what’s up with that? Take my number out of your Rolodex. All you do is try to mooch votes off of me. That’s not how you keep friends buddy.

I'm 25 years old. I've used an electric shaver since I was 13. My dad was never very good at demonstrations, and anyone that has ever met me could probably tell you that giving me a sharp object to attempt to prune small hairs off of my throat doesn't seem like a wise idea. None-the-less, I decided to give it a go... if only for the story.

The result was surprisingly lame. There was no bloody mess, no trip to the emergency room, and no phone call to my mother in Ohio to ask how to stop the bleeding.

Apparently, the modern razor is to be so idiot proof that even a McBitty can use it with no problem. (I'm known for hurting myself in bizarre ways. I think it's in my genes: My father once burned his eyebrows off cleaning the furnace.)

The worst part about the experience is that I think I'm allergic to the shaving cream. I had it on my face for 30 seconds before I felt a burning sensation.

The after shave burned less by comparison.

So yeah, I'm going to keep using the razor. I'll let you know if I cut my nose off. Something like that is BOUND to happen eventually.

Friends of Fuzzy, Console Wars, Fuzzy Gets Political, and Go Vote

Greetings! Sorry for the late update. I had loads of work to do.

The Friends of Fuzzy section along the side has some great links to check out. I particularly recommend Firefly Cross. Dragonsong is a close friend of mind. She painted my computer case up with dragons. When I get access to a digital camera that doesn’t suck I’ll post pictures.

There’s been a lot going on this week, so it’s hard to know where to begin.

The major part of the console war starts in a few weeks. I’m hoping that the Wii will win, mostly because I don’t have an HD TV or the money to buy a TV AND a console.

My biggest gripe of the week was the fact that the President signed a bill that allows us to build a 700-mile fence along the US boarder with Mexico.

I thought for a while about whether I should talk about politics on this board. I have obvious biases that I’m aware of. In the end I decided that it could be fun. If people want to argue with me they’re more than welcome.

My main gripe with the fence is that it makes it look like we’re doing something when we’re not doing that much. Even if whatever construction company gets hired to build said fence DIDN’T use any illegal labor to construct it we would still have to take into account that people will try to dig under or climb over it. Then you have to take into account that many people from Mexico come to the US to get into the manual labor field. They know how to take some fencing apart. The whole idea is pointless.

Second on my list are political attack ads. They’re fine when mixed in with other ads, but this time around I have not seen many ads telling me WHY I should vote for a candidate. They all say some form of, “HEY!!!1 Look at what a scumbag my opponent is! DON’T VOTE FOR THAT GUY!”

They fail to take into account that a good percentage of voters EXPECT their politicians to be scumbags. They’re telling us things that we already know. As long as he’s not corrupt and he represents the issues that I care about, I don’t really care if he’s a scumbag.

I’m not really in favor of the huge growth in what I would call “moral standards” that we’ve had in government. Flip through the channels. Watch the senators talk about moral issues… then flip to something else: ANYTHING ELSE. See the difference?

Tuesday is Election Day. Don’t forget to vote. I don’t care who you vote for… just vote. Unless you’re under age, not a US citizen, or a convicted felon.

TV ADs

I love to hate commercials. I have several that are on my list. We'll focus on a few here.

1. Commercials for Cell phone flirt chat. Why do I get the feeling that most of the people that are actually doing this job are broke MALE college students?

2. Vonage commercials. What the hell is up with this? They take a total loser, who is making really crappy decisions, and expect us to want to use the same phone service? I don't think so.

3. Girls gone wild. I can't even take these things seriously. My favorite commercial for this is one where they're having a pillow fight and one of the girls falls off the bed and her head goes right into the wall.

4. Any Comcast commerical. Their marketing is horrible. Especially the one where the popcorn bucket says "You can eat pop corn out of my head." He sounds way too excited about that.

Not much else to report here, thought I did get a good idea. I when to Chick-fil-a today. They always have signs with cows holding signs about eating chickens being a good idea.

Obviously, if I were a chicken, I'd be pissed off about this hate propoganda on the part of cows everywhere. It almost makes me want to rent a chicken costume, make a sign that says "the cluck stops here," and picket Cick-fil-a. Someone should do this... damn cows. And send pictures.
